Agya Koo Biography
Mr. Kofi Adu who is popularly known as Agya Koo started out as a cobbler (shoe shine) in Asantewaa a suburb in Accra Newtown.
Every job that puts food on the table is worth it but it takes a real man to reinvent himself from a ‘normal cobbler’ to a formidable actor. Only the greats survive this.
Coming from the Ashanti Region of Ghana, Kofi Adu had worked in Accra for some years and had gained some valuable experience on how to cheer up his customers.
This I believe gained him an introduction which led him to the Ghanaian comedy show on GTV (Ghana National Television) at the National Theater in Accra, where he worked as a comedian warming up the crowd during the popular Keysoap Concert party drama shows.
You can imagine – after a hard week’s work as a cobbler, Agya Koo will be preparing for Saturday’s comedy show and his only goal was to make people from all over the country laugh.
Having received the highest award of the land from the then-Ghanaian President John Agyekum Kufuor, Agya Koo is one of the few people and actors to have been blessed with a National Award.
