About Kumasi Technical University
Kumasi Technical University was initially established in 1954 as Kumasi Technical Institute and later as a non-tertiary Polytechnic under the Ghana Education Service in October 13, 1963 offering Technician, Diploma and Sub-Professional programmes alongside the craft programmes.
In 1992 the Polytechnics were restructured with the enactment of the Polytechnics Law, 1992 (PNDCL 321).
Under this law, the status of Polytechnics was raised to the level of tertiary institutions with the mandate to run Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes with a provision to mount degree programmes in the future.
As a Polytechnic it was one of the famous, elegant and vibrant Polytechnics in Ghana.
today, the Kumasi Technical University is a spectacularly beautiful institution in Kumasi in the Ashanti region of Ghana.
It has within the period of its existence become an important centre for training not only for Ghana but also for other African countries.
From Kumasi Polytechnic to Kumasi Technical University: The History and Mission
The main objective of Polytechnic Law, 1992 (PNDC L.321) elevation of Polytechnics to tertiary institutions in Ghana was to provide high calibre skilled manpower with reference to manufacturing, commerce, science and technology to act as a catalyst for technological development.
Several years on, the Technical University Act 2016, (Act 922) converted Kumasi Polytechnic to the present Kumasi Technical University with the aim of providing higher education in engineering, applied arts, science technology-based disciplines, technical and vocational training.

List of Programmes and Courses at Kumasi Technical University
In the year 1956, Ghana was seen as a country with a lot of potentials, a country that could leapfrog ahead of other African countries. The then head of state Kwame Nkrumah urged for a “vigorous drive to education” and for creating a “cultured nation.” It was under this conviction that former Kumasi Technical Institute was given a polytechnic status on October 13, 1963, as a non-tertiary Polytechnic under the Ghana Education Service.
The institution started with Technician, Diploma and Sub-Professional programmes alongside the craft programmes. Other programmes and schools were added over the years.
There is a school and six faculties at the university today: the Business School, Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Faculty of Built and Natural Environment, Faculty of Creative Arts and Technology, Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology, Faculty of Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development.

There are several fashion shows every year, and the university is a home for the start-up of lots of budding fashion companies looking to break through into the mainstream Ghanaian fashion business.
The food is simple, but it is cheap.
Concluding Thoughts…
In conclusion, Kumasi Polytechnic or Kumasi Technical University is a good choice for students who are looking for opportunities to improve their skills.
Kumasi Technical University offers many programs that are designed to help people to create for themselves as entrepreneurs or get better hands-on jobs. It is worthy to note how graduates are making it big in the fashion, design and craft industries. and that id a good sign for a country that doesn’t have a clear-cut blueprint for startups, apprenticeships and entrepreneurship.
With the help of practical education, Kumasi Technical University can make a difference in Ghana.
